The rumor mill is in full swing on the Nikon P6000, which is purportedly the next big thing from Nikon’s point and shoot camera realm. Nikon has been fallling a little short of Canon’s more advance featured G9, which features RAW capture - a rarity in point and shoots these days. The Nikon P6000, a follow up to the Nikon P5100, is rumored to include RAW capture along with a number of other advanced features. The above image has been circulating around on a variety of photo forums and gadget sites. It’s about time too. It’s been about a year since Nikon announced the P5100, which followed the P5000 by only six months.
Here’s a quick summary of the key features rumored to appear in the Nikon P6000:
13.5 megapixels
4x optical zoom (28mm-112mm comparable)
Vibration Reduction
RAW image capture
Up to ISO 6400
Flash hotshoe
No word yet on a price though. Expect to hear more about the Nikon P6000 around Photokina 2008.
