Nikon MX tiny picture

I have one small picture of what I believe could be the next Nikon MX camera.

Here it is - the first one on the left (for comparison purposes I added pictures of Nikon D3 prototype, real Nikon D3, D700 and Nikon F6 to the right):

The size of the prism and the mount on that "thing" appears to be way bigger than the other full frame Nikon models. I am working on getting a high resolution picture which will hopefully reveal more details.

Disclaimer: this could be an old Nikon prototype or may not be related at all to Nikon MX. It could be Nikon D4, Nikon D800, Nikon F7, it could be an UFO, the next Canon with a Nikon label, whatever. I don't know for sure. I can only assure you that it's not fake. The source is very reliable. That's all I got for now.

What is that?

Nikon MX

The other problem I have is the red triangle on the handle of the first ad – the triangle looks different than any of the existing models (personal opinion, I could be wrong). The sequence here is MX, D3, D2HS, D700, D300, D200, D90, D80, D70 and F6. Did I miss a model?

Thank you all for you your comments and analysis. Remember that I am in the same boat as you - I just want to know and I don't know anything more than you do.

If you did not get enough, here is another one of the many emails I got on this topic:

If you measure the size of the wheel on the D3 image (on my screen) you get 9mm wide if you measure the size of the mirror you get 15.5 mm wide 15.5/9=1.722 size factor

You can do the same measurement with the d700 image (once again on my screen) and you get 22/13 1.69.....from these two measurements we can assume the size factor of the wheel to the mirror on these two cameras is  about 1.7 and can be used as a good measure for all Nikon cameras.

since we know that the real size of a Nikon mirror is 36mm wide we can get a real life size factor from the photos also..........36/15.5=2.322 for the D3

.........36/22=1.636 for the d700

we can now use these measurement to find the actual wheel size.....2.322*13=20.898 for the d3 and 1.636*13=21.268......from this we can assume that the size of the wheel on all cameras is roughly 21mm wide

If we measure the size of the mirror from the big ad we see it is about 23mmx14mm on my screen and the size of the wheel is about 10mm.  If we then use the wheel (21mm wide) as a standard.  21/10=2.1 size factor.  We can then use this size factor to determine the real life size of the sensor.  23*2.1=48.3mm and 14*2.1=29.4mm.

Now take it with a grain of salt but from my calculation looking at the photos the sensor of the camera in the big ad would be roughly 48x30

Canon EOS 50D Review

 

Announced just one year after the 40D, the new EOS 50D is Canon’s latest semi-pro DSLR camera. With a price-tag just over £1200 / $1399 body only, the Canon 50D is firmly aimed at the prosumer, who will use it as their main camera, and the pro photographer looking for a reliable and relatively inexpensive backup body. The main headline-grabbing feature is the 15.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, which makes the 50D the market-leading APS-C camera in terms of megapixel count. Canon have also massively expanded the ISO range, with a top speed of 12800 matching the more expensive Nikon D700 / D3 cameras, while the new Digic 4 processor promises to maintain the usual high image quality that we’ve come to expect from a Canon DSLR. A high-resolution VGA LCD screen, new Live View mode with Face Detection, HDMI connectivity and a number of user interface refinements complete the list of major improvements. Turbo batteries from Quantum are the most popular external battery packs in the world! Widely used by press, sports and fashion photographers as well as by police forces and of course paparazzo's. The new Nikon SB900 flash unit will not work with all Turbo batteries in their existing condition and up-grades are now available from the UK distributor Flaghead Photographic.

1. Turbo: SB900 will work fine with the original Turbo battery
2. Turbo Z: SB900 will not work with this battery and there is NO conversion available
3. Turbo2x2: needs to be upgraded if the serial number is below R243
4. Turbo Compact: needs to be up-graded if the serial number is below R112
5. Turbo Slim Compact: needs to be up-graded if the serial number is below R274
6. Turbo AC: needs to be up-graded if the serial number is below Q092

Up-grade information:

• Free of charge up-grades are available from Flaghead Photographic for batteries that are still in the warranty period (one year from purchase)
• We will charge £28.00 + P&P + Vat for up-grading batteries out of the warranty period

Cables: the cables to connect to the SB900 are the same as those used for the previous model SB800, i.e. the CKE and CCKE cables

Canon CR-1 Delivers High-Resolution Images and an Ergonomic Design for Ophthalmic Professionals

Las Vegas, October 3, 2008 – At Vision Expo West, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, will showcase its CR-1 Non-Mydriatic Digital Retinal Camera and its complete line of total digital imaging and workflow management solutions for eyecare professionals, in booth #MS6063 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas (October 3-5, 2008).

Featuring a redesigned optical system that achieves extremely detailed, high-resolution diagnostic images of the retina, the Canon CR-1 Digital Retinal Camera enables a full 45-degree view angle to help the eyecare professional detect and monitor ocular conditions. When attached to a Canon EOS 40D Digital SLR Camera (sold separately), which provides up to 10.1 million pixel resolution, the CR-1 Non-Mydriatic Digital Retinal Camera is capable of delivering clear and detailed diagnostic images for virtually immediate review.

The CR-1 integrates advanced specifications into an ergonomic unit, all of which have been designed for improved ease of use and comfort in a streamlined form. The CR-1 system, when combined with the optional Canon imageSPECTRUM Version 3.0 software, facilitates comprehensive study management and image capture control at the operator's finger tips through a simple graphical interface. This enhanced PC-based software package allows for quick, easy input and access to information and images. imageSPECTRUM Version 3.0 features Multi-image Compare, which allows the comparison of up to eight images simultaneously.
